FAQ & Policies

We want every student to have an amazing experience, and the best way to make that happen is by having clear expectations from the start. Below you will find answers to common questions along with our class policies and procedures.

These policies are not meant to be restrictive — they are designed to prevent abuse of leniency, reduce unnecessary costs, and help us keep ticket prices as affordable as possible for everyone. Over the years, these procedures have been carefully developed to reduce waste, improve class organization, and ensure every student receives the best possible experience.

All classes require advance preparation using perishable supplies with limited shelf lives. Last-minute cancellations often result in wasted materials, preparation time, and labor costs that cannot be recovered. The only way to offset these losses would be to raise ticket prices, which we work very hard to avoid.

These policies also help ensure:

  • A positive and organized classroom experience for all students regardless of age or skill level

  • Proper preparation of individual student materials

  • Fair access to high-demand classes that often sell out quickly

We do understand that life happens. Serious unforeseen situations such as illness, death in the family, or emergencies may be reviewed on a case-by-case basis when appropriate.

By purchasing a class ticket, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these policies.

1.) I signed up for the wrong class. Can I switch to the class I originally wanted? Yes. You may transfer into another class by purchasing a Class Transfer Ticket based on the price of your original class. If you choose a class of lesser value, no credit or refund will be issued for the price difference. If you choose a class of greater value, an invoice for the price difference will be emailed to you. This invoice must be paid in full before the transfer can be completed. All transfers must be requested and completed prior to the scheduled class date. Exception: If the incorrect class was purchased by accident and you contact us within 24 hours of the original transaction, the transfer fee may be waived provided the correct class still has availability and you complete the transfer within that same 24-hour window.

2.) What if I cannot make it to class? Please call the studio or email us as soon as possible. You may request a class transfer or class credit; however, this is not guaranteed and is granted at management discretion. If a transfer or credit is approved, a transfer fee will still apply and must be paid before booking your new class. Click here to view the Transfer Fee Page. Please note that no-shows automatically forfeit their class funds. No refunds will be given for any reason initiated by the student/customer.

3.)What are the age requirements for classes? Age requirements vary by class, so please be sure to read the full class description before registering. Age requirements are one of several important details listed to help you choose the right class experience. Some classes offer a Parent & Me ticket option. This is ideal for younger children who are not able to attend a class independently. Parent & Me tickets include one parent or guardian (18+) working together with one child sharing one project. All students age 12 and older must hold their own individual ticket.

4.)Can I sit with my child during class? Only registered students who have purchased a ticket are allowed in the classroom. If you would like to participate with your child, you must purchase a ticket. Some classes offer a Parent & Me ticket option. This allows one adult (18+) to attend with one child (ages 6–11), working together at one shared station. Please note this ticket covers one place setting for the adult and child combined. Many parents are surprised how quickly kids become comfortable and focused once class begins. This can be a great opportunity for your child to build confidence, independence, and creativity in a fun and structured environment. Most students get so involved with their cakes and cookies they barely notice parents have stepped out! We promise they will be well taken care of and have a great time.

5.) I don't have a babysitter. Can I bring my child? Unfortunately, no. Only registered, paid students are allowed in the classroom. This policy helps prevent distractions, ensures a comfortable learning environment for all students, and allows us to properly manage seating, materials, and safety within the classroom. It also helps prevent policy abuse and ensures fairness to those who have purchased tickets. If your child would like to participate, they must have their own ticket or be registered under a Parent & Me ticket if that option is available for that class. Please do not bring infants or unregistered children to class. Only paid students may be present in the classroom. We appreciate your understanding as these policies help us maintain a positive experience for everyone.

6.) Will you backdate a discount or promotion on a class I purchased prior to the promotion? Unfortunately, no. Discounts and promotions are intended to help fill specific classes and drive future registrations. Because we are a small, locally owned business, we are unable to retroactively apply discounts or promotions to previously purchased tickets. Offering retroactive discounts would make it very difficult to continue offering promotions while keeping class pricing as affordable as possible for everyone. We truly appreciate your understanding and your support of our small business.

7.) I paid a deposit on a class ticket or private event and can no longer attend. Can I get a refund or a credit? Class & Class Ticket Deposits Deposits are typically 50% of the total ticket price and are non-refundable under all circumstances. Deposits are required to reserve a seat that can no longer be sold to another student. These funds are also used to purchase and prepare materials specifically for that student’s project. Because materials are purchased in advance and are often perishable or project-specific, no refunds or credits can be issued on deposits for any reason. Private Event Deposits (Birthday Parties, Corporate Events, Private Classes, etc.) Private events require a 50% non-refundable deposit to reserve the date and time. Full payment is due 2 weeks prior to the event date. Because private events block our ability to host public classes (which are our primary source of revenue), deposits are required to offset the loss of potential class income. Cancellation Terms: Cancellations made 4 or more weeks prior to the event may be eligible for a credit of up to 50% of payments made Cancellations made within 4 weeks of the event are not eligible for refunds If materials have already been purchased or labor has been completed, additional funds may be retained to cover those costs We appreciate your understanding as these policies allow us to properly prepare materials, schedule staff, and keep class pricing fair for all students.

8.) Refund Policy / Class Cancellation Policy Refunds will only be issued if It’s Just a Cookie cancels a class due to internal circumstances. This includes, but is not limited to, instructor illness or family emergencies. Students will be notified as soon as possible via email. Please be sure to provide a valid email address when registering. Refunds will NOT be issued for the following: Student cancellations: If a student is unable to attend for any reason, refunds will not be given. A class credit or transfer may be requested according to our transfer policy. Please click here for instructions if you need to cancel. Events outside of our control: Refunds will not be issued if It’s Just a Cookie must cancel or close due to circumstances beyond our control. Examples include but are not limited to: Natural disasters (hurricanes, tropical storms, flooding, etc.) Government or national shutdowns (example: pandemic closures) Power outages or facility issues Any other events outside of business control In these situations, students will receive a class credit that can be used toward a future class. Transfer fees will be waived in these circumstances.
